Meet Yamini Grover, An Engineer-In-Training

What does Empowering Women mean to you? Empowering Women means to enlighten the spark in every woman that says "If she can do, so can I too." It means to inspire females and get inspired by females who dare to break through the patriarchal roles.

How did you get started working in your field? My curiosity on experiencing huge structures always made me think about its stability and foundation that holds it upright. Faulty engineering leading to loss of lives affected me deeply. I chose Civil Engineering to work towards safer and sustainable construction of structures.

What do you love most about your job? / What are you most proud of? I love the satisfaction of being able to contribute to the safety and betterment of the society. I am proud to be a part of an industry that takes care of the most basic requirements of human civilization. There is not a single individual that is unrelated to the civil engineering ecosystem.

What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work? Be mentally prepared for the challenges of being a woman in a non-IT job. The civil engineering industry, sadly, still remains male-dominated. However, there are limitless opportunities which ultimately makes this profession noble and rewarding.
