What does Empowering Women in Industry mean to you?
I'd like to contribute to a future where gender is not a factor in someone's worth, both in the professional world and the personal world. By being active in societies like Empowering Women, I am intently supporting that cause and rising others up that may not have a voice.
How did you get started in your field?
When I graduated high school in 2009, it was in the middle of the recession. So when I started college, I wanted a degree that would land me a job upon graduation. A business degree seemed like the logical choice. Through my studies, I discovered the marketing field and realized I could marry my love of logic (my need for a job after graduation) with my need for a creative outlet (marketing).
What do you love most about your job? What are you most proud of?
I love that I can take the latest creative elements of marketing and apply them to the very traditional air and gas handling industry. Through our events and digital tools, we can reach customers and showcase our innovative solutions in a very "old school" market. We are bridging the gap between "tried and true" and "new and innovative."
What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work?
Go for it. Marketing is a fantastic field if you are interested in it. I would urge my younger self to get acquainted with Google much sooner, things like Google Ads and Google Analytics. There are so many free/cheap resources available that you can get certified in various facets of marketing.
Anything else you would like to add?
My grandfather always told me, "never stop learning; that's the only thing they can't take away from you." So show up, do your homework, ask questions, read books, participate in discussions, and never stop being a student.
